WHAT'S ON

Surface Design Show is packed with presentations, seminars and features

New Materials

Where Surfaces Come Alive

Since launching in 2005 Surface Design Show has become the place where people immerse themselves in the latest materials for the built environment, gain new insights and network with like-minded designers and specifiers.

Revealing the lastest innovations in surface design, over 170 UK and international suppliers will showcase their materials at the Show.

Plus, visitors can specify natural stone at Stone Gallery, officially supported by Stone Federation GB or stop by Light School to see something that will change the way they see light.

Pechakucha Evening

Powered by PechaKucha
Sponsored by Trimo

PechaKucha is an exciting and inspiring presentation format where architects and interior designers show 20 images, each for 20 seconds.

Drawing its name from the Japanese term for the sound of "chit chat", it provides a lively, informal and fun format enjoyed by a huge audience.

In keeping with the style of PechaKucha, attendees are provided with a free beer or wine as they relax to watch the action.

Our 2017 PechaKucha was curated and chaired by architect Phil Coffey of Coffey Architects

Surface Design Awards

The 2017 Surface Design Awards Presentation
took place Thursday 9 February.

Launched in 2013, the Awards have grown quickly both in stature and the number of entrants.

Over 85 projects from around the world have been entered into the 2017 Surface Design Awards and were judged by our expert panel. All the finalists will be displayed on a central feature at Surface Design Show.

See who took home the trophies this year as the list of winning projects is now online.

Seminar Programme

Three stages will be in operation right through Surface Design Show .

  • The Main Stage is the venue for the headline acts and will host some 11 presentations
  • Light Talks is home to a stellar line-up and is more often than not standing room only!
  • The CPD Hub gives our professional audience the chance to update and gain points at the latest CPD Approved seminars, before transforming into The Stone Hub on the final day to deep dive into the stone industry.

Surface Spotlight

This is an opportunity for architects and designers to see the best of advanced materials curated by leading experts.

Colour forecaster Sally Angharad curated Surface Spotlight 2017 which consisted of a regular Surface Spotlight Newsletter circulated to architects and designers and the ‘at show’ feature and presentation showcasing the most innovative surface design materials for Education and Hospitality environments.

Light School

It’s always ‘standing room only’ for our 3-day programme of Light Talks, when Britain’s leading lighting designers take to stage to educate architects and designers about the importance of light in their designs.

You can also touch, compare and learn about the latest lighting products at Product School.

This year visitors were also able to step onboard Factorylux's #TheVan to make, test and certify a luminaire to BS EN 60598 and to experience Reggiani's immersive installation 'NightShift', exploring how artificial light contributes to the personal experience of urban space.
