David Richardson

Chair, Stone Federation Technical and Sustainability Committees

Dave Richardson is Chair of the Stone Federation Technical and Sustainability Committees and a past of SFGB.  He is also a Director and Board member with London-based leading design and engineering based consultancy, FMDC. 

Dave is a highly qualified and experienced geologist, who is Director and Board member with FMDC.  He has a BSc in Geology, an MSc in Geomaterials, is a Chartered Geologist and is a Fellow of the Geological Society of London.  His extensive experience gives specialist knowledge of materials selection, testing, sustainability and ethical sourcing.  Dave is a past President of the Stone Federation GB, and is currently Chairman of the Technical and Sustainability committees. His work as a director at BRE also gave him considerable experience in other materials such as concretes and mortars. 

He has over 30 years of industry experience working as a geologist for large UK consultants, contractors and research-based organisations.  He is very client focussed and balances technical knowledge with commercial acumen, to deliver sound advice and direction in stone selection, procurement and installation for both new build and restoration projects. He has carried out numerous failure investigations and acted as an Expert Witness in Court.
